QFT.
Crushing will actually inflict more damage than aftershock against any target.
-20% maxHP is about 100hp from most people. Thus, all subsequent hits are effectively +20% damage.

What do people think of "enraged smash" as an elite ?

Don't like the fact I can't use the other adrenaline based skills in my bars without becoming less effective.

Yeah kinda sucks when you consider the beastmastery version.
Enraged Smash:
2 Adrenaline
If it hits, Enraged Smash deals +5...10 damage (maximum bonus 40) for each other fully charged adrenaline skill you have.
Enraged Lunge
5 energy, 5 recharge
Your animal companion attempts an Enraged Lunge that deals +3...19 damage (maximum 80) for each recharging Beast Mastery skill.
A simple Tiger's Fury will give you enough skill recharge for the full extra 80 damage.

I've been using a W/E build (with Aftershock OMG!) lately. This is strickly for PvE where the goal is to inflict some AoE. I doubt this would work well in PvP. So far it has worked well for me.
Hammer 14
Earth 12
Tactics 7
Strength 7
Irresistable Blow
Armor of Earth
Mighty Blow
Earth Shaker {E}
Aftershock
Berserker Stance
Bonetti's Defense
Endure Pain
I use Berserker stance to get my adrenaline going. Once you get enough for Earth Shaker, make sure you are surrounded and let it fly and hit Aftershock right afterwards. Hit Bonetti's if you are hurting for energy.
I am sure there are other hammer builds out there to dispatch single enemies much quicker, but this one focuses on AoE.
You can sub Aftershock for Holy Strike as it is less energy intensive but it is single target so you might as well swap Earth Shaker for Devestating Hammer as well.

Aftershock works well in PvE, but you'd want to bring Earthshaker to get the AOE KD/AShock. Plus, Armor of the Earth is good for PvE as you aren't being kited.
PS I never leave home without Distracting Blow, but that's just me.
I think Tiger's Fury Axe seems to be the best for PvE though, in general.

I like this in PvP for monks:
Devastating Hammer > Crushing Blow > Heavy Blow > Blackout
If you can get any help the monk will likely die.

sigh....
1. thanks to all the "anti-hammer" peeps posting here. you keep the price of my awesome hammers down so I can buy em cheap.
2. hammer does the most damage per-second of the melee weapons. the overall damage is higher than sword or axe can even dream of. (don't even try to argue this one w/me i've used everyone's calculators and played all three weapons myself). there are certainly individual skills from sword and axe (eviscerate and final thrust) that do more damage as a single skill, but lower overall damage as a weapon. the trade off is that it's just a smidge slower than the other two.
3. i have been running hammer basically since i got done w/post searing in Tyria. imo, most warriors don't like hammer since they don't know how to use it properly. with a hammer, the job of the "tank" isn't as much to take massive damage and just stand there. this is more of a finesse job with about 2/3 of the time being tanking and 1/3 of the time causing knockdowns/interupts.
4. as far as people thinking you'll get kicked from pve groups since you're a hammer warrior... pfffffffft. since when? i've never been kicked due to my weapon of choice... ever. in fact, if a hammer warrior is announcing he's LFG, i'll take him over the other two any day of the week. the release of factions gave hammer a massive buff. so, imho, warriors out there who are not at least trying hammer are missing out on a whole bunch of fun.
5. to the original poster. i do usually run the typical kd/as build i love it. everytime the screen shakes. the +xp numbers flash up.
hammer 12+3+1
earth 10
strength 9-10
tactics whatever is left
devistating hammer/backbreaker [E]
aftershock
staggering blow (if i use bb)/mighty blow (if i use dev)
fierce blow
auspicous blow
irresistable blow
tiger's stance
signet of strength/rez sig/some dmg avoidance stance
use irresistable and tiger's to warm up adrenal. then trigger 1-5 as quickly as possible. i usually don't make it to auspicous blow before the foe is dead. for pve, i usually opt for BB and pvp for dev hammer. for pve, i'll also usually drop AS for another kd like bull's strike. the hammer warrior's job is to kill while foe is on the ground.
happy hammering

I agree with the hammer posters it's an awesome weapon of choice in pve and with the KD on mobs you can draw aggro pretty well off the bat.
What I like the most about it is I don't have to have a hammer elite to be effective. I usually swicth over to hammer and take - Gladiators defense / Grenth's balance / Healing hands.
Iniatially I started with swords on my warrior then moved to axes. Axe is my common build but I love donning my sentinels armour and getting some swift KD's firing in a pve group.
I've never encountered this "pve hammer hate" from high lvl instances.
